Hey, I’m Galen
I am a designer and strategic consultant working with purpose-driven ecommerce brands to help build more sustainable businesses.
I am Founder & Strategic Director of Lucid, which I started in 2000 in Christchurch, New Zealand.
I hired my first teammate in 2006 (who is still with us today), and have grown the team to 14 people with offices in New Zealand and New York City—where I live with my wife and three children.
I thrive on working with passionate companies that are motivated by a mission to make a positive impact on the world.
I love community and community-building and founded The Bridge Street Collective, a co-working space in Nelson, New Zealand in 2011. We added Kirby Lane in 2018, an open-to-the-public private laneway venue for food carts, markets, and events.
I stumbled across Shopify in 2006—the year they launched—and have worked with hundreds of Shopify and Shopify Plus brands over the past 15 years. I have been a Shopify Partner and Shopify Plus Partner since the very beginning.
In 2015, I developed The Foodbank Project, a not-for-profit online grocery store where everything you buy is donated to a food bank and given to New Zealand families in need.
I am from Nelson, New Zealand, and live in New York City with my wife and three children.
